I was just wondering if anyone knows what the NATO style band has over the RAF single-piece style band? Both straps are one-piece securing the watch so that if one pin breaks, the other pin holds the watch to the band - right? So, why have the additional piece that the NATO G10 band has? Am I missing something?

I suppose the (original) design of the Nato-style should prevent the watch from slipping
off the strap while putting it on - older style Natos can be quite flimsy...

Yeah, THAT makes sense, the extra piece secures the watch to the band to keep it in place. I imagine as the RAF style band gets worn in, the watch could slide around on the band (and fall off if you take it off without catching it).
...and fall off if you take it off without catching it.
Would be easy to catch if you were in a 4G inverted dive...with or without a Mig-28... ;)

Of course, but there ARE some times when I'm NOT in a 4G inverted dive!
It's amazing how much different and cooler a multi-thousand dollar Sub can look on a cheap nylon Nato band! It looks so no-nonsense. To me, anyway. Most people who see it don't appreciate it! "What happend to your Good band?"

Yes: my wife thinks my ND Sub (and others, come to that) looks awful on a NATO strap - and she really likes the oyster bracelet - so for me it's Rolex 1, NATO 0.
I have a feeling that if I looked like Sean Connery, it might be different :)

Ha! If I looked like Sean Connery, I wouldn't be married to the same girl (probably)! A catch-22. Still, the Sub on a Nato looks like a new watch. The darker band brings out the watch more, and it just looks cool. Those who KNOW like NATO (straps)!

Ah, well you see, that's where we differ. If I looked like Sean Connery I would still have married the same girl! :)
Maybe a few more would have looked my way, but the descision would have still been easy!

Very PC, Nick. Obviously your wife lurks on TURF. :)

Yup! I'm just saying that if I were as happening as Connery, I wouldn't have waited till I was in my late 30's to get married, assuming I would have had the opportunity to meet someone else much earlier.
