Those who've known me for some time know that I change the straps on my watches according to the season, ie during the winter months I'll wear dark straps and during the summer the straps are brown/tan.

This is because during the summer I wear cream linen suits as opposed to my predominantly dark blue pinstripes for the rest of the year, and brown/tan straps go better with the cream suits.

Yeah, yeah...I know...uber-metrosexual...what can I do... :D

Anyway, I reckon the summer is pretty much over for us :( so I changed all the straps back to their winter-wear yesterday and decided to go for a bit of a change on my JLC. Normally it'd be onto its black strap...

...but this time I decided on adding a splash of colour.

I've had this burgundy strap kicking around for a few years but it had a gold buckle with it and it was never used - so I decided to cannibalise another strap for the steel buckle.

What do you guys think?

Looks good H. A tad unconventional but it works

Y'know...it's interesting you say that.

I'm generally a stickler for doing things properly, etiquette and all the rest...but sometimes I feel I am hamstrung by convention.

So sticking on a fairly restrained and sober dark wine strap is probably as counter-culture as I'd go...LOL! :)

Sim wasn't sure when I mooted the idea but she changed her mind seeing the strap on the watch and as part of my work wear.

I like it as it's nearly stock. With time, the strap will develop a nice patina and no one, not even a WIS would know the difference.

It's a good neutral--can wear it with almost any color, and looks better with blue than either a black or brown strap. Or so my metrosexual associates tell me, of course.

Yeah, Marek, I think I agree with you...errr, I mean, with your associates...;)

I think the Burgandy strap complements the watch and wrist hair colour just right:p

As long as it matches your belt and shoes, I guess its fine...:)

I think with such a neutral face most straps would go with your JLC, Harb, however, personally I'm not a big fan of that red strap.

My favourite strap for a Master Control series or Reverso is a tan ostrich, but you could treat yourself to the amazing straps at ABP-Paris:

Here are a few that I think might go well with your watch (or are just nice anyway :))

Ostrich leg is quite nice - this one?

Ostrich leg in a different brown (I think it looks great with the LV Sub)

For dressier, uber-metro occasions, what about this stingray? ;)

ABP are wonderful

And I have a tan ostrich which is the standard summer-wear for this watch.

Thanks, Shane!

Actually, the weather has been glorious for the past 2 weeks (!), but I couldn't be bothered changing either my straps or my wardrobe back - the linen suits are all away getting dry-cleaned ready for storage over the winter.

Anyway, I've been wearing the lightest wool suits I have which are all various shades of light grey +/- pinstripe and this burgundy strap goes great with them, too. Interestingly, I have a ton of ties in various shades of purple/burgundy, cufflinks too, so it appears I must really like this colour.

It was the regal colour in Ancient Rome, after all, so I guess it's entirely appropriate for me... ;)
