I've been looking to get a vintage chronograph for a while now but even the Heuer Carreras I was considering have been rising in value. Then I saw this Omega Chronostop for sale and really liked its design (and price ;))

The Chronostop was promoted for the 1968 Mexico Olympics, which Omega sponsored, and this particular watch is from that year, and is the larger Seamaster version, with a 42mm case. It has a manual-wind 865 movement and measures times to 1/5th second. Another reason it was so appealing was because it had been fully serviced and looks in NOS condition.

....and an extract from a 1967-1968 Omega brochure showing how you can use the chronograph (Harb/Huck - check out the pulsometer example :))

Are you a lumberjack?! ;)

Nice looking watch - it looks like a pretty ageless design and it works well with that strap.

That's a great-looking watch, Shane. Good size, too - must've been a monster back in the day...!

And as for the pulsometer markings, I think I'll get my local blacksmith to cobble me up a new bezel for my Daytona :)

Thanks, everyone :)

The price was very good, considering these watches are rising in value now. Strap is by ATG watches - vintage racing with cream stitch. If you have a Monaco or racing chronograph I'd recommend this strap highly (it's not cheap but really looks good).

Thanks, Rap, Suhail & Harb ;)

Here are some better pics for anyone interested in a racing/rallye strap for their watch. It comes in 22mm or 20mm.

This pic shows the strap on the Monaco, which takes the 22mm version like my Chronostop.
