The official Rolex Service Centers in the U.S.- New York and Dallas -are no longer accepting pre-30XX caliber watches and manual-wind Daytonas for repair anymore.
In regards to vintage Rolex repairs, the two authorized service centers located in San Francisco and Chicago will accept older watches with calibers as old as the 1030 caliber (late 1950s). But, they may or may not, warranty the work/pressure-proofness due to the age of the watches, or, offer a "limited warranty".
A watchmaker at the Chicago center stated that the date wheels tend to wear out on these older watches and there are no longer any parts to repair date mechanisms on 1030-based movements. However, they have many other 1030 parts and 1030-movement watches without date functions are usually straight-forward repairs.
The service center in San Francisco will also accept older watches back to the 1030 calibers. But, these are taken in on a case-by-case basis depending upon parts availability.
Manual-wind Daytonas and 1960s and newer models should not be a problem at the time being.
So, if you need an older Rolex repaired that the official RSCs are currently rejecting, you might choose to use one of these independent centers for repairs. This might be a very good choice for a newly acquired watch that you would like to have serviced and get the high quality "Rolex polish"; later services could be handled by your local watchmaker. Please note: the service prices tend to be more expensive than the official centers as they are free to charge what they want; they are authorized by Rolex USA and use only Rolex factory parts, but not governed by their price structures, etc.
