Has the 36mm datejust gone out of favor for men? Very little is posted about this model. The posts are entirely on the "tool" watches. Is it because of the size or that there is nothing new to write about this ubiquitous model? I would assume the latter, as the watch style has predominantly stayed the same since 1945.
I purchased the 36mm model for several reasons (V series). I thought it looked more balanced than the II (personal opinion), and it fit my wrist in a more balanced way. Great looking watch with a terrific bracelet and the solid 3135 movement. Parachrom hairspring? who knows.

I agree with your thoughts on the size of the DJ, I tried on another LARGE DJ today and found it did not suit me.
I then went back to a 36mm DJ in steel and white gold (bezel) and for my money it looks far better, more understated and yet still a beautifully balanced watch, especially with the latest hidden clasp Jubillee bracelet.
And for the money involved in the purchase of a large DJ I would prefer a Milgauss, who needs a date anyway?

I'll be honest and say that, for me, 36mm in a Rolex is too small. My wife, on the other hand, loves her Exp I.
I recently tried on the new DJ II and found this far more suitable - I don't have massive wrists but this was more contemporary and, for me, more comfortable and appropriate.
I have a JLC Perpetual and my PP are both around 37mm - but they are very different watches and suit a smaller diameter.
All that said, these are very personal opinions and there's no right and wrong. Your DJ is a great-looking piece, with a stunning dial being a huge part of its character. Wear it in great health and enjoy it!

Personally, I love the Roman numerals and the sunburst dial. And this watch will never fight with a dress shirt sleeve. I agree with Harb. Wear it in great health and enjoy it.
