Greetings chaps and chappesses!

Been a member on TRF for a little while and whilst googling noticed this forum....seem to have more UK members!!!! cool!

I got my first Rolex almost 2 months ago, after searching for my grail since 2006, and then getting bored of ' theres a 7 year waiting list' line...and refusing to pay a massive premium back then , i just got bored.....and forgot about it so to speak
In the mean time..
Bought a couple of Breitlings, one being my daily...an aerospace and also a Bentley 6.75....

Then........whilst on a trip to Saudi Arabia, walked into an AD at in Madinah (holy city) and popped the usual question....but in a basic way....(dude looked like he didn't 'want' to speak english!! ) " Stainless Daytona - Black??"

He says, Yes - I have two....lol!!

Ran in the 50 degree heat back to the hotel, armed with my plastic and bought them both at what worked out to be the current RRP

Well Chuffed!!!!

Looking for a DSSD next!!

Yeppp i sure was!!!!

And so was my pal....we share this crazy passion for watches, and bought our 6.75's together.....sounds queer....lol
and bought our daytonas together....

I thought the availability was too good to be true.....and i did check in Saudi 6 months prior...The capital Riyadh has two AD's non there, and also jeddah - major financial hub - had none for the last 2 years....i have a good mate who is one of the many royals there, and even he couldnt hook it up....

so imagine the feeling when my humble self finds two!

they are 'M' Serials with the older clasp, possibly older stock....but who cares...!!

Welcome...and nice find, how did list compare to the UK?

TRF ...Here we don't perv over the breasts of shop girls half our age, give our watches nicknames, or end our posts like this :p;):D:o:):(

Well done, firstly for finding this wonderful site, home of the honest, sincere, friendly, helpful and rogue (only me though).

And most importantly, that was great news about the brace of Daytonas at or about list price.

(I was always encouraged to believe that only Moderators, or even Super Moderators, whatever that mindless statement means, were permitted to buy their Rolex Daytona's at list price or at a whacking discount.)

AND NO I'M NOT JEALOUS, NOT EVEN A LITTLE BIT, SO THERE...............

I'm now off to bed in a big huff!

They dont actually have a saudi list price, well not advertised or anything like that , and not even that supplement to the catalogue is present with their literature.....

what i do know however is the price quoted was 37000 SAR (saudi riyals) which at the time worked out to £6026 using the rate at the time

they worked out at £6090 as i purchased them on card, even though my card issuer doesnt charge commission on foreign currency transactions (normally 2.5%) , but however their rates were lower than the local market exchange rate had i purchased cash.......IMO a great deal.!

what i do know is a year prior i could have purchased for £5400 or thereabouts when the ba5tard pound was stronger....

interesting enough, the salesman told me he made 2000 SAR commision on the sale i.e. £330 per watch! , i haggled......hard! as is customary, BUT , he didnt budge, and showed me a sales receipt for one he had sold a month before for 49000 SAR i.e. £7300

i know when to stop haggling!

Hiya and welcome.

Well done on getting the Daytonas. Good thing that customs didn't get you as 'list' would have ended up being somewhat more. Now just get on and enjoy it.

PS You got an M3 then......?

Welcome and well done, I'm currently in Riyadh and the two dealers as ever don't have daytona's, there's a grey dealer who has lots, (which tends to imply the dealers are managed rather than owned), four the last time i visited, but at the usual premium. (thanks to the web I guess), also spoke to an old dealer who showed me a photo of an orange hand explorer he picked up for 2000 sar, just a month earlier..which he promply sold for 15000 sar, he asked me what the uk price would be, but he was happy with the profit he'd made.

He had a 1680, but it was a bit tatty and needed a new braclet, so i declined.

The grey dealer also had the DSSD, Green Miligauss, etc everything infact.

Kzm40,

This is interesting, as when i purchased , he said the second one was on its way from riyadh, they had it flown in , its like a 45 minute flight that cost 300 SAR , so nothing major there......

If you want the contact details let me know, we hooked the AD sales chap up a car and driver for a week due to him being a nice chap :p

Even if you cant make it to madinah (you know the score!) i'll get the chap to get one out to you at the Riyadh dealer?

Did you deal with Mohammed Saddik and attar in riyadh?

Hi M3 Rolex!

Welcome to TURF! As Chris said, the original and the best.
You might find some of the language similar to the other forum - that's because they were TURFers before they were TRFers! LOL!

And that is a great story to kick off with here!
2 SS Daytonas, just like that! Well done! :)

Just goes to show that it never hurts to ask - makes all the getting laughed at and BS from other ADs worthwhile!

We have members from all over here but you're right, we do have lots of UK TURFers.
Whereabouts are you based?

regards,
harb

Thanks for the offer, I can get at list in the UK easily from a couple of Ad's that I have long standing relationships with, but I always ask. Usually get the same responce. A friend asked me to look for any good offers, but the web seems to have leveled the playing field. There's a guy at the Dira Gold souk who's reasonable for second hand, but it just depends what he has in...

Regards..Keith
