my local AD told me a story today that made me wince and smile...

a guy bought a ss sub off him and the following day went to turkey on hol. while browsing in a jewellery shop the shop keeper said can i have a look at your rolex, he took it off and the turkish guy promtly took out a tool of some sort and proceeded to take off the bracelet. the watch owner said what the f**k you doing. "just having a look for the serial number" came the reply. well dont he said and get my watch back together now.

well the turk cudnt get the bracelet back on so said my cousin down the rd has a watch shop and he will do it. no said the english man do it ere and now no way am i letting it out of my sight. unbelieveably the turk started going crazy crying and screaming the english man tried to get the watch off him and leave the store.

with all the noise the shop keepers son ran in from upstairs and grabbed the watch saying the english man was pinching it off his father..

3 hrs later and lots of police the english guy was back in his hotel with a scractched sub with a bracelet hanging off..

crazy

thanks for reading, hope it warns a few of us to be carefull

Ouch. Heard of this kind of stuff happening in several countries. Wouldn't even hand mine over unless they took my hand with it...

When I was last in Turkey there were a lot of fakes for sale. If you take your watch off there is a high probability it will be switched.

Taking his watch off so some stranger can have a look at the serial number? WTF was he thinking?!

Sorry, but I can't imagine taking my watch off and showing it to someone I do not know, especially in a foreign country. He is lucky to still have it IMO.

Nope, me neither. Admire on my wrist but I'm not taking it off for anyone unless it's a good friend.
