If you care to look at the for sale board in about 5 minutes you will find a BNIB UK supplied model at £1200 less than your 18% discount model.

Kindest regards, Rolexroz

P.S. Welcome to TURF

I would not consider a 18kt NIB Rolex at less than 25-28% off if I was a "normal" buyer.

Morgan,

What if you were a reasonable to good customer?

Then RolexRoz's price is a viable alternative. Trick is that most dealers won't resell cheap to an end user, but will to a grey market dealer. It's all about volume.

Confused.com! (I think only the UK guys will get that!)

You would expect 25 to 28% if you were a walk in customer, but if you already had a good relationship with the AD buy rolexroz's one?! Would you not expect more discount?

Cheers

I suspect Morgster may have misread you, bigd...

Just back from the AD, there was a YG sub there with an M serial which would make between Jan 08 to Nov 08?

Not a fan of the YG, but they are getting a WG one in next week for me to have a look at.

I thought that I was a 'good' customer but by the discount offered I am clearly not in their opinion...

Rolexrozs one looks like a steal....

Push 'em hard, bigd - use Roz's price as a guide but don't tell them where you got it from.

If you're serious, let them know that you will be buying - thery're not going to want to let £££ walk out of the door.

If they bring their price down but still can't match Roz's price, then you can decide if maintaining a good relationship with this AD is worth that difference.

It is a great watch but you need to try it for yourself.

I tried and it came down three times but ended up at 10%, I told them I had been offered a lot better but didnt say how much. When I asked is that the best you can do, he said no rrp is! I will leave the 25ish percent discussion until I see it in the flesh. I may not like it... :-)

When you say maintaining a good relationship, I was pretty annoyed when 10% was the 'best they could do' as I thought I was a good customer having bought 5 watches from them...

Bit confused, why use Rod's price to negotiate a deal, why not just use Rod...full stop!

Well, sod them in that case and get it from Roz! :)

Although we've not got our "Good Guys" board fully populated from our old forum software, Roz is impeccably trustworthy and an all-round great guy. In fact, have a look here - this link (http://www.newturfers.com/bin/mwf/topic_show.pl?tid=32004)will take you to his "Good Guys" listing on our old forum software.

As you know, Adam, sometimes it's worth a few quid to maintain a relationship with an AD.

Wonderful as Roz is, he's not able to offer the full range of services that an AD can - the most important ones being (in no particular order)

a place to stop/sit down and have a cup of coffee and biscuit and look at nice watches whilst being dragged around town by the missus...
General massaging of ego
Actually, scrub the last one - Roz is great at massaging my ego :):)

Anyway, bigd's AD is putting on a pretty poor show, so see my advice to him (above)...

Hi Dave

maintaining a relationship means spending heavy duty £££

if you want to be guarenteed the first choice of pieces at your AD plain and simple. all depends how deep your pocket it is im afraid , its just the way it works with the ADs these days .

roz god is a good friend of mines so deal in absolute confidence ive bought many a watch off him over the yrs so can put you in contact with him if you want just give me a call you got my number.

i personally think your AD is taking the piss at 10% on a precious metal even though it is the first edition of the wg subby.

Thanks for the advice, I have PM'd Rolexroz but obviously want to see it in the flesh first.

Think that my AD is a pretty poorshow, a quick ring round saw more discount...

Cheers
