The Taliban are slowly but surely taking over the country. This is not good news for the world. Whomsoever controls Pakistan controls their nukes.
Unbelievably scary situation.

The Taliban will never be allowed to be in control of the nuclear weapons, at any cost. All bets will be off as to what our governments will do to stop that eventuality.

If memory serves, "S(MK I)" mentioned something re the "sovereignty" of wacko nations a while back...

the problem is that there is always a first time , if the taliban ever use a nuke it will be too late , many people will die, that is the tragedy of all this. We have to seat in our arses and wait... wait for them to nuke us so that we can nuke them. I kind of like the other way around.

There's always a problem when you're dealing with fanatics whose goal IS to die and go to heaven with a umpteen number of virgins.
BTW, regarding these promised virgins, does the Koran specify what gender? :D

what I do not buy any longer (well I never did) is that only a small group of muslims are fanatics. I think that, by now, they have shown their true colors. Truth is that the pillar of the Muslim faith , the Coran , implies a very untolerant, fanatic and hostile way of understanding life.

it is hard to finish with those son of bitches. You kill one and you get two for free. The solution has to come from inside , from the people living under terror and oppression in their own soil. Same in Africa, the political class and his friends (maybe 2-3% of the population) live like Kings while the rest of the people is starving, yet nothing moves.

US spokespersons claim that the nukes will be secured, if necessary, to prevent their falling into Taliban hands. Though the fact is probably not much comfort, the warheads are stored apart from their delivery systems.

PS: I'd wager on the return of Musharaff; a brave man.

S,
I'd feel a whole lot better if the Republicans were in.
S ;~(
PS: On a more positive note, it's nice to hear that the Paks have plenty of money to spend on nukes. Not a "guns or butter" issue over there...
