If you could have a Rolex manufactured from any range of materials what would you choose? I was wondering how a totally ceramic version might look and feel and also one using Kevlar or graphite.

magnesium? - though not in its pure form, that would be bad if I recall my HS chem classes...

It would certainly be pretty in a fire! :)

I admit to being strangely attracted to a black ceramic case, should Rolex deign to introduce reasonably modern materials.........

A Daytona with date in a black titanium case, just like the Tag Heuer Cal. 17 RS2, and some ceramics/carbon fibre bezel/case combo.

I did noticed a recent trend of black watches.

Ceramic, forged carbon, vulcanized rubber, PVD....

Almost every manufacturer launched one.

My choice would be gold or platinum.

Like a Chanel...or a Rado... :(

Yeah - I'd guessed Rado.

I wonder what's all the fuzz about ceramic on other brands (like IWC, Panerai, Hublot) when Rado has been using this material for years.

Is there a difference in quality or process on high tech ceramic used by each manufacturer? All uses Zirconium oxide.

.......but i really dislike the black, (rado especially). looks bad new and looks worse as it ages. just my thought. I also dislike the YG everything, (too cheesy) including the Rolexes (I know i am going to get flack for these opinions). I also do not like the TTs.

I LOVE THE SS rolexes. Explorers, GMTs, Subs. (in that order).

someone please defend me.

BTW, it took some time but i finally got registered to this new site!

I'd like a nice Platinum Sub or Daytona
