Anyone got one? Any thoughts about them?

I don't own one, Chris, but to me they look like overpriced joke-shop junk, one of the numerous fashion-based oversized watches that exist at this price point.

I can't think of any redeeming features.

So, what would your suggestion be for an oversized watch at the same kind of price point?

Honestly?

Don't - they all look and feel cheap and nasty.

But I've got a hankering for something new to go on my wrist. Looking to spend somewhere between £200 - £500 as a treat to myself when I hit my next weight target. :)

Hmm...... Maybe, I should just buy another camera lens or gadget, especially as I'm now sole proprietor of the business, having reached an agreement to buyout my partner (as she wanted out). :)

Probably.

Sorry, mate, but I honestly feel that watches in this price range are a complete waste of money and a total con.
They sell to people who think they're getting something of higher quality than the sub-£100 range, but they're all exactly the same - and all probably cost only a few quid to make.

My advice to anyone thinking of spending on something like this is to save a few "blocks" of £500 (...not that you need to...!) and then go out and get something decent.

Perhaps, if I go the treat myself to a cheap watch, I should just stick to looking at Luminox or at Another Seiko Diver's watch. I'm wearing my current Seiko at the moment and rather like it.

What's with this cheap watch fixation?

Is this what you rich people do just to show you can "keep it real"...? ;)

A bit like scamming £40k of public money to keep your proclivities private...;)

I understand where you are coming from. Get on Ebay, for 2 to 5 hundred you could buy an lovely old G P or a very nice Eterna. In fact many very beautiful watches.
One of my most loved watches (Attached pic 18k GP manual wind) cost me only around 400. I paid some more to have it serviced and polished, and a nice new strap (not to everyone's taste)
I guess it is probably even worth a good bit more now that it has been loved and cared for.
I understand the urge to buy, very well, but please try to avoid throwing your money away on junk. There are so many wonderful watches around for not too much money.

Hmm...... Maybe I should have a look in some of the pawn shops in the local towns to see what they have?!

Great Idea. You may find something really great and even make some money.

Harb is completely right (Again!) This watch was made in China by the Minorva company (They currently make all of Ingersol's inventory)
This is a very complicated watch, all the functions work eg 2nd time zone 24hr triple date. This watch costs at the factory, just under £20.
I guess a TW Steal would cost about £5 to make!

Thanks for your input, Tim. I knew you'd be the man who knew! :)

Interesting information - thanks. So, what about Luminox, then? I like the idea of something nice and bright at night. :)

I guess Luminox is another story. Although not to my taste they appear to be a well designed and conceived product. I would still rather spend my 500 squids on something that won't be worth 50 squids after I open the box.
I'm not totally mercenary, I love my watches for what they are. However some considerable justification in buying so many, is derived from the feeling that if I buy wisely, most of the value is retained.

Robust and doesn't try to be something it isn't...and very bright at night.

Definitely worth getting and people here won't sneer at you.
(Who? Me...?!) ;)

I think I need to find a stockist of the Luminox range so I can have a look at the and get some wrist time with them.
