Hello all,
I don't know where I've been all this time, but I've finally found a forum for my 3rd love (the first is my wife, obviously! and the second is cars!)
Anyway, I have in my modest collection, a blue 16613 Rolex sub, and a bi-colour Ebel 1911 chrono, and I have plans to visit one of Glasgows finest watch emporiums to partake in an IWC aquatimer chrono 3767, so along with a big hello, I would welcome any comments good or bad on the IWC brand, which I have to admit, I know little about.
many thanks
Alan
Hi Alan,
Welcome to TURF (....from another Glasgweigan! ;))
IWC are, of course, an extremely well-respected brand so you will not go wrong with any of their products. The Aquatimer will be a pretty cool addition to your collection.
Where are you getting it from?
regards,
harb

Hi Guys, thanks for the warm welcome. I'm over on the south side, Newton Mearns.
Did the deed and bought the IWC today! Got a good trade in deal on the Ebel at Watches of Switzerland in the Argylle Aracde.
So far I'm well chuffed!

Not a million miles away then!
Here are a few I took this morning. Personally I don't think they do the watch justice, as it looks so much better in the metal as it were!

Wow, Suhail. Almost a Snooty level of obscurity there!
I'll have a go, though - "Alan M" is the boyfriend of "Josie" from that film (which happens to be Suhail's favourite of all time...)
What do I win?

Striking looking watch, Alan!

Well, I would never have guessed I was a film star (well a character at least!)
Pity is was only in a cartoon!
Thanks for the compliments on the watch. I'm having a bit of difficullty adjusting to a rubber strap as it feels a bit tight, and WoS tell me a longer one isn't a "freebie"! I await a shock when they give me the price!
Welcome from the only Glaswegian on this forum who will likely never own a Rolex. I crossed over to the dark side (Omega) a while go - Spooky:p

Hi all, first post...be gentle...
Another southsider just joined today and enjoying trawling through all the posts and pics. I've been interested in watches for a while but not got any real history - had sterling service out of my Tag for the last 8 years.
I had thought of trading up to a Rolex a few times but I don't really suit the sports look, I don't like fluted bezels and found the explorer and air king too small on my wrist (fussy? me?). Tried a few IWCs and Omegas on but nothing really grabbed me.....until I saw a Milgauss GV a few months ago over in the Far East (Edinburgh). It was sold and awaiting collection so I couldn't try it on, but I've got a 'landmark' birthday coming up so I am seriously considering it...hope to actually get one on my wrist ASAP!
Anyway, hi again and thanks for all the great info and advice on here. I look forward to contributing as much as I can...

Well, well! Another Soo'sider!
Welcome to TURF!
My wife bought me a GV for my "landmark birthday" last year and I absolutely love it.
I'd honestly never been interested in the MG range of watches when they were first released, but seeing pics posted here I was gradually drawn in. It's a great watch - obviously top quality and finish, weighty on the wrist, classic without being self-consciously retro...and the green glass is just mesmerising at all times! It's now one of my favourites in the collection.
If you're serious about getting one, these can now be had at a discount from well-respected TURFers - BNIB, papers in your name, etc. Drop me a PM and I'll point you in the right direction...
regards,
harb
Thanks harb! Your pics of the GV look amazing...and I really appreciate your offer. I need to get one on my wrist before making a decision though. Got my name down for the next one at WoS so I'm waiting with baited breath for the call.

Thanks!
And I blame Alun/ASW1 for his brilliant pics of the GV which tipped me over the edge!

...and I, when questioned, will blame you!
"you see, there was this guy taking photos in the shower and I just had to have one like his" :D
I must admit though I'm a bit worried about the PCLs (first day and I'm already trying the lingo!)...are they very 'bling' on the wrist?

And quite right too! :)
When I first joined TURF, I had only one watch - a TT black dial Sub, my trusty one-and-only for 10 years.
But within less than a month I had bought my second watch. And then another...and another...and it's been pretty much downhill from there...
It's a sickness, but we've all got it so we're all ok...:)

Compared to a brushed SS watch, yes - they are more noticeable.
But it's a classy look, suits the watch and I don't find it at all overpowering.
