Opinions on ownership?

I am looking for a nice daily watch ( Sporty yet elegant) in the sub 1000$ range .

Suggestions/opinions?

I assume from the title you're thinking about Hamiltons? I've always thought they were rather overpriced for what they were. Sub $1,000 is a tough range--too high to be a beater, too low to be a "good" watch; the domain of the "fashion" watch, unfortunately. That said, there are some nice pieces from Oris in that range, mostly the Williams F1 collection (there are several models), but also this one (4154LS BC4), currently available (on Amazon, of all places) for $1,075. A nice clean look, 43mm, day-date--a lot for the money.

It's an interesting challenge--good luck!

Absolutely correct, Marek!

And I would second your suggestion of Oris. True and honest value for money.

I'll see your Jazzmaster and raise you an Oris--Big Crown Pointer, 40 mm, display back, $675 (personally I like the big crown, easier to handle):

Not bad. Need to see if they have a dealer here.

That particular one is currently on Jomashop.com and Amazon. I have nothing against Hamiltons, mind you--their history is certainly impressive--but for some reason I think of them these days as more on a Tissot type level, and Oris as a more serious watchmaker.

I have one of these and it gets the most wrist time.

Great daily wearer and so easy to read.

That is nice. I know the days of week display would appeal to someone I know. :) Although it's a bit wierd that it appears to go anti-clockwise...
