some years ago i bought this 1960's gold-ish Omega Seamaster chrono with the 861 movement, after a while one of the chrono registers stopped working ( suckered again ) so I took it to my local watch guy for repair.

TWO, yes two years later i got it back off him as he had done nothing with it,and after much googling located another repairer, who has had it for a further year, replated the case fitted new pushers, repaired and serviced the movement, fitted a new plexi, and got it running as it should. I initally wanted the dial doing but have left it as I wanted it back!

A bit smaller than my usual GMT but I am very pleased with it

here is a picture enjoy.

Classy-looking vintage piece, Chris.

So what made you remember that the first guy still had it after 2 years...?! ;)

He also had a bulova, another Omega chrono and a Longines, he still has a Grandmother wall clock and a mantle clock of mine, he is a nice guy but with the "busy fool syndrome" very low prices and far too much work, servicing he is great at but if it needs parts forget it!
Iam in the building trade and I thought we were good at stalling, but we are nothing to the masters in the watch repair buisness :)

Stunningly beautiful watch. So glad you left the dial as it is. When the dials are over restored they look like an old actress after too much cosmetic surgery.

Parts are a nightmare. My repairer kept me waiting two years for Zenith parts once :-)

Could do with a strap about 1 mm wider though. Although that is a lovely strap.

Good eye, Tim - that strap does look a mite narrow.

Chris, give Ken Danks at The Strap Shop (http://www.newturfers.com/vb/showthread.php?t=3835) a call - this is his Good Guys link. He's got a great range and will sort you out.

the strap is 18mm and is a genuine Omega N.O.S. but it is a bit short, it doesnt look as narrow now after a couple of days wear, being a watch tart I'll probally be wearing something else in a couple of days. I have bought straps from ken before so I will go there if it gets on my nerves.
