View Full Version : Piaget
Before you start. I know i should know better.
My wife took a fancy to this 18ct Piaget Dancer with MOP dial and diamonds. So I bought it for her yesterday. She is over the moon and loves it.
In her defence, she does have a real watch, a midi yachty
She is a Jeweller, that is probably why she appreciates the D coloured IF stones that adorne the dial. Wouldn't expect Piaget to use anything less really.
But if they take an interest in watches, it is up to us to encourage it.

If she's a jeweller, you should have told her to BIY! :)
Have to encourage the interest though.

I used to believe that fervently, but am now seeing the downside to indulging it; my wife now has two Lady DJ's (one SS, blue Vignette dial, and one TT, Bordeaux Vignette dial) and my old 36mm TT DJ that I re-dialed black for her. Contrary to my initial fears she wears them all (although so far my old DJ less often but at least more than I used to, which was never), but as a result 1) I'm now down two winder spaces and 2) no longer have even one empty space since she also broke my original single winder by trying to force her watch onto the mechanism in a way unintended by the manufacturer (to be fair it was old and a cheapie, but still...). She loves the watches, but not the fetishes they require (i.e., winding and cleaning).
Jury's still out on this one--if it weren't for the fact that I think they look terrific on her, at this point I'd vote slightly on the side of "not worth it".
Can't help agreeing with pretty much all of what you say Red.
Interestingly, no matter how much I talk about watches and try to explain the whole ethos etc.
She still thinks that they are either jewellery or something to tell the time with, or both.
We of course know that they are neither.
I begin to think they will never know.

And that's the result we all want! Congrats! I'm sure it looks lovely on the wrist.
As for encouraging the ladies...I find myself in agreement with Marek/red herring's summation:

I find it is me suggesting to my wife that she rotates her watches (TT diamond dial DJ and Exp I - her Tudor Lady-Sub is now never worn) and I'd happily indulge my wife if she wanted another watch in the knowledge that I'd probably still have to remind her not to forget the others twirling away on the winders...I think...!
