I sent a (non-Rolex) watch in to an independent watchmaker for a routine overhaul in early June. He is in England, excellent credentials: wostep trained, ex-Rolex & ex Omega employee. The watch has a chronometer certified, decorated (rhodium plated, has Geneva stripes & perlage) 2892-a2 movt, so should be a straightforward job.
Got it back mid August (10 weeks later). Timekeeping seemed excellent +2secs per day. However I was dismayed by cosmetic issues so I sent it back for further attention. It is now over 5 weeks, & I still have not heard anything despite 2 emails requesting an update on progress.
In total I have now been without this watch for 4 months, since early June, except for a week or so.
I did say that I didn't mind waiting patiently if it means he takes his time to be careful & do a decent job, but I am starting to get a bit worried :( Should I continue to wait patiently? I know for Rolex Bexley the expected wait is about 4 months, is this typical or unreasonable (generally speaking for any luxury watch not necessarily Rolex)?
