View Full Version : Deepase - what a ridiculous watch!

Oversized, heavy, unfashionable, ludicrously overspecified and overpriced.

Come to think of it, all the things that first attracted me to Rolex. I'm as pleased with this watch as I was with my first purchase 20 years ago. Question is, how are they going to top it in 30 years time (or however long it is since the Seadweller was introduced).

Apologies for the very poor quality photograph of said watch on my slim wrist.

Thanks to AdamB for making it possible.

gotta agree, the Deepase is a crock of sh*t...

The Deepsea, on the other hand, is fantastic! If you think it's on the big side now, don't worry, you'll grow into it...

Enjoy... and when you've worked out how to use the Glidelok, ping me!

:D

The weight of the watch makes it difficult to type!

The Deep Sea has many improvements that are worth considering. It is very thick.

Yep, you'll have Popeye-arms in no time if you keep wearing it... keep up with the spinach... ;) Have you tried wearing it on a NATO strap yet? That seems to be a phase Deepsea owners go through.

Deepase - amusing typo or Freudian slip...? ;)

Anyway, congrats on getting the big daddy of them all!

I suggest you don't wear it at sea. The sheer weight can sink you to the bottom of the ocean (deepsea). ;-)

It's one of those love or hate it models. Congrats by the way.

I don't think that the bracelet looks quite as out of proportion from the wearer's perspective.

"Very thick" is an understatement though. My shirt cuffs are getting worn down each time I look at the watch - which is still frequently at this stage. On a slightly serious note, I don't know whether the bracelet will be more prone to stretch with the weight it carries. I wear mine quite tight which probably reduces that risk somewhat.

I actually quite like the fact that it isn't a watch that is universally liked. I am sure I have seen more negative comments about it that positive since the launch but, as I said in my original post, what I like about it is probably what most people hate!

You know, for all I said about the weight, I can honestly say it never felt heavy from the first time put it on. When I got my Seadweller a few years back, I am sure it took a couple of days to get used to the weight. Anyone got a list of the weights of various models?

What changed your mind, as a matter of interest?

Welcome to the club. I also bought mine from Adam. This is an amazing watch but will not suit all wrists. Despite it's size i barely notice it on the wrist as you can get the strap to fit perfectly. Great choice.

To all of you who have big wrists and can carry a Deepsea with ease, Lucky You!

I have a very small wrist and the SD is the biggest watch I can manage without looking like a puss-in-boots.

Usually end up with 11 links on the bracelet.

Great shame as I keep looking at the DSSD which is really a masterpiece. But it simply does not fit me.

I envy all of you who can handle the DSSD in a nonchalant manner.

Cheers
