My post count has zeroed, and the PM system is up the swanney every time I try to use it.

I know I'm a techno-numpty, but err, it was working up 'til last week.

Did I accidently cut the blue wire (or was it the red...?)

Confused, in Liverpool

Seconded Mike.

Often when I try to send a PM, the system logs me out when I submit the message, so I never really know if it has gone. And none of the PMs I have ever managed to send have appeared in the "sent" box -they just disappear into the ether.

And the "remember me" box is always ticked.

No, Mike, it is just you :)

The username you use most frequently here is "Mike Wood" who has a total of 436 posts.

T.O.W.S. UK has only 7.

Looks like your gas mixtures may be a little off...;)

Once again, nothing more complex than "operator error" - ie, it's also just you! :)

The "Save a copy of sent messages in my Sent Items folder by default" was set to "No", so it didn't save your messages. I've changed that setting for you.

You can check and change your settings in the "User CP" area.

Thanks for changing it Harb! It is interesting that the default setting that all the incoming pms are saved, but the outgoings are not........

But can you tell me why I keep getting logged out when I try to write a pm and then have to log back in?

How long have we been allowing users to have multiple (i.e.: more than 1) USER IDs on TURF?!?!???

My PC is not new, about three years old, but since we moved to the more modern US based(genreric style as used by every cheap site in the world, apparently) I have had all kind of problems.

I can open my PC, log on and play all day, then I go to another site and lo and behold, I have to re-log onto TURF, this happens each and every day. I have to be honest and say that if it was any other site then by now I would be an ex-user. I have checked with a couple of other users who are probably (guaranteed) better qualified than me and it is the same for them.

Progress, is not always a step forward.

Unfortunately for TURF, I have heard similar stories from many others who are not so patient and they are now no longer here, but they are still on many other sites, especially TRF and TZ-UK. BOO HISS!!!!!!!

Much as I hate the use of the kids language................How bad is that.

Try checking the little box that says "remember me" when you log in.

There are some forum sites that don't seem to want to remember to 'auto-log-you-in' no matter what you do, what browser or windows security settings or forum switches you use. I have this problem with TZ-UK but not Turf or WUS, and also it happens on some other sites. All using the same browser. There doesn't seem to be a universal solution.
What is far worse is when the forum doesn't remember which treads you've looked at after the 1st page, which is really awkward, so if all you have to worry about is having to login (and you should be able to get your browser to remember your username/password so it just fills in the spaces), then you're doing well ;)

Can I presume you have the "Remember me" box ticked, as Suhail mentioned?

TBH, this sounds more to do with your browser and security settings than it does the forum software.

If your browser has an "incognito" setting or is set to delete all browsed history on closing, then that would make you have to log-in each time.

Which is useful while surfing porn ;)

Not that any of us on TURF does that (apart from watch porn, which is quite different and totally acceptable, obviously!!). :-)
