70 hours to make that?!
Why didn't he just go out and take a picture of a girl?
Would have cut his time down by about 93%.........

LOLOL!! He did!
However, Alan, as a style, Photorealism has a few detractors, who often dismiss it as pointless, or non-art. They fail to realize that many photorealistic paintings are not mere copies of photographs, but interpretations of reality based on the artist's vision. The act of merely copying a photograph has no artistic merit except to hone one's artistic skills. Most of his aviation paintings would be impossible to photograph, such as Timing is Everything (http://www.drublair.com/comersus/store/comersus_viewItemBundle.asp?idProduct=115) for example. This painting of Tica is not just a copy of a photograph, but is a product of many artistic decisions, whereas he deviated from the reference photo for more aesthetic appeal.
Apparently...;)
And here's another one of his, posted so we can marvel at its artistic merit...

That's amazing... I can't wait until I can get that quality on my PS3. It would give a completely new meaning to some of the scenarios I get up to in games ;)
