View Full Version : Learning to tell the time
My elder son, Tage, who turned 3 in April, has started wearing my Luminox Evo Navy Seal!
Back in October of last year, I posted that he used to wear it in bed as he liked going to sleep looking at the different coloured "lights" on the dial!
The luminosity on these watches is fantastic and the Tritium vials do, indeed, look like little lights (I'll need to take a pic...)
Well...fast forward 8 months and although he still likes the "lights", he's taken to wearing it so he can tell the time!
It's my only watch with a full Arabic dial so that makes it easier - I taught him the phase "hour markers" when he was asking why my Subs don't have numbers on them!
We're still at the stage where he's only looking at the hour hand and then saying x'o'clock depending on which number the hour hand's pointing to. Saying that, last night he was trying to read the 5 minute numerals on the bezel so we may not be far away from teaching him how to read minutes, too!
A budding WIS, I think :):)

And his teachers will be forever grateful! It's unbelievable just how many children in KS2 can't tell the time or solve time problems. My 8 yr old impressed me, yesterday, by reading prices of things with no trouble at all. The trouble is, I'm going to have to be careful he doesn't go reporting to Mummy how much Daddy has been spending! :)

Enjoy that while you can. Next he will be learning bribery and extortion. Then he will introduce Mummy to Paid Informant.
He's going to have the most toys in his school in a matter of months... :-)

Between them, I think he and his brother probably already do!

The disease is probably hereditary, alas.
:-)
The Luminox also bounces better than my other watches when he gets tired of the "telling the time game"!
But he's come a long way since he was using my LV as a teething aid...:)

I figured that... I would have expected nothing less!

That is one kid who can say he literately cut his teeth on a Rolex!
You DID remember to setup his account here on his birthday right? Oh, Super Moderator, I guess you can back date it LOL!
Cute :)
I watched a documentary that said stimulating a child's brain when very young make them smarter in adult life.

He's already too damn smart - he'll argue with almost impeccable logic on pretty much anything we ask him to do. Or he'll try and bargain his way to getting what he wants! I think we may have a future lawyer on our hands...:)
One (slightly gross) example - we're potty-training him and he's pretty good most of the time, but last month had an accident in his pants. "Why didn't you go to the loo?" I asked him. "Because I was playing on my laptop" he replied, ie Obviously I was way too busy doing other important stuff. What can you say to that?! :)

And little brother takes after him, but prefers Mum's Explorer! :)

I'm sure many TURFers have done that so he's forgiven ;)
