Just been trying to book our vacation to Bali. Have used AsianRoom.com before and again their prices are really good.

I call Amex and have them do the bookings. I always get a room upgrade that way. :)

ive also used asiarooms alot, also hotels.com, or the hotels own website, i.e bestwestern.com. In dublin i got the best hotel deal through Ryanairs website... depends where youre going i spose.
Usually the hotel's website, but book with Amex and get upgraded.
However, before booking I tend to drive myself nuts reading reviews on tripadvisor.com

For Japan we used an online booking agent, but normally I go direct to the hotels. I've found that booking agents usually only have access to a certain number of rooms at their advertised prices. Hotels, depending on their vacancy factor at the time, can work really good deals.

Asiarooms.com are good. Don't think you'll do much better unless you book direct in which case check it out on Asiarooms first. Octopustravel.com is good for Europe etc.
