  • Wooden watches. Whats that about?

I've noticed a proliferation of wooden watches on KS. Can someone explain the concept to me because I thinks its a little bonkers (no offence intended).
I didn't realise they existed before I saw them on KS.

They're perfect for splinter groups, or those that get wood from watches!

There are really novelty value rather then anything ground-breaking or durable or worthwhile.

I learned my lesson when I backed a Kickstarter bamboo watch which was due to be be delivered a year ago and still hasn't turned up and the creator has effectively gone AWOL. Had I bothered to go onto ebay and look at "wooden watches", I would have got 3,715 hits...................at prices that, including postage generally delivered from China, was less than the pledge for the watch on Kickstarter.

Do I see the attraction for wooden watches? No, not all of them. Yes, for some of them depending on the design.

Would I buy one. Possibly as a rounding out of the collection.

I had a wooden watch once. Looked great! Wooden case, wooden strap, wooden dial, wooden hands.
            Just one problem....

All that time away, trying to learn comedy, has clearly been in vain. Stick to delivering babies, Harb!

A couple of guys in my office have wooden watches. They look like souvenirs from a tropical island. I tried one on, and it weighed almost nothing. Nice looking, but they'd rank below my Swatches in my "collection."

Around the same time, they also ran the Rock Watch line:

Thanks for the laugh everyone. I know this is going against the grain for some of you (I'll get my coat).
Harb, that picture you posted is truly frightful and Tissot should know better.

I remember the Tissot watches very well - I was a teenager when they were released & I thought they were cool, but not quite as cool as my Casio databank.
