  • Another layered dial watch from Kickstarter - all the world is a Stage Phase One!

As LTF put it in a recent post, I am becoming more open to non-standard designs in watches and have backed a few. So here is another one!

This time it has design cues from classical history and notable the Colosseum in Rome as well as the late, great Gerald Genta. Like many of these bold designs, the case is quite large - in this case 44.5mm diameter.

The dial is complicated and geometric and I like the way they have taken a sword and shield as the basis for the hand set. I also like the way that the hours and minutes tracks have been reversed in the dial so that the longer hand is actually the hours and the shorter hand the minutes. May take a little getting used to in order to read the time quickly.

As usual, the Stage comes in a range of colourways:

The bezel is quite funky - not functional in the sense there are no numbers on it, but it is modular and has a quick-change facility as they come in different colour variants. There is also a plate on the side of the case that can be custom engraved:

Again, at a decent price point, the engine is a Sellita SW200-1 adjusted to +/- 8 secs per day!

I really hate you sometimes! I bet you stand outside AA meetings drinking whiskey, too.

Pot kettle black, over - again. From you to me on Kickstarter:

But the Lava brings out the colour in his eyes!

But I'm not sure that bloodshot is necessarily a good look.

To go with your steely blue eyes, or blue rinse hair?

Blue rinse - not that old, fella!

Blue eyes? Clearly you have spent too much time researching old photos of kilted medics, rather than of London TURF dinners, where I am sure my eyes were pictured along with the rest of my face!
